Netflix in the Philippines

Netflix has finally arrived in the Philippines, as it expands its video streaming service worldwide, announced by Netflix CEO Reed Hashtings during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2016) held in Las Vegas last January 06, 2016. 

Netflix is an American multinational company which provides on demand internet streaming media and a flat-rate DVD-by-mail in the United States, where mailed DVDs and Blu-ray Discs are sent via Permit Reply Mail. The company was established in 1997 headquartered in Los Gatos, California. The subscription-based service started in 1999 and by the year 2009 it was offering a collection of 100,000 titles on DVD surpassing 10 million subscribers and counting up until today. 

In the Philippines, Netflix offers monthly rates worth P370 (basic), P460 (standard) to P550 (premium) depending on the plan of your choice. 

Netflix offers 100 million hours of TV shows, movies, documentaries and featuring original series' such as "Marvel's Daredevil and Marvel's Jessica Jones" Netflix is planning to release 31 new and returning original series. You are able to watch it in standard definition (SD), high definition (HD) and ultra HD (UHD) from any internet connected device such as computers, laptops, smart phones, tablet devices and Smart TVs. 

Netflix suggests an internet speed of 5.0 Megabits per second (Mbps) for HD streaming and requires a minimum of 0.5 Mbps while the Philippines averages an internet speed of 3.64 Mbps which is fairly covers the internet connection speed, but for those who plans to use 4K TV which plays UHD quality requires at least 25 Mbps.
