Viber will not just be a messaging app, but also an e-commerce site!

Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest has been trying to cater online shopping, and now Viber is finally nailing it. Viber is owned by an e-commerce leader – Rakuten. Users will be presented with items based on the category they are chatting about. The items in the e-commerce site will be coming from Rakuten.com. Products ranging from home goods, electronics, lifestyle and fashion will be part of the initial launch. Aside from products that are coming from Rakuten, up to 30 brands will also be catered.

When users click on the product, they will be redirected to the seller or brand’s application or website. Viber’s CEO, Djamel Agaoua, assure that they will be including in-app purchasing within the application on the next update.

Viber is doing its job to be a multi-functional platform. This new e-commerce feature will run live in United States first and then go live on March 6.
